Our work is made possible through the generous support of our donors who believe in our goal to improve gender equality in the music industry. By choosing to donate to Girls Behind the Rock Show today, you are helping us bring this goal to life by providing internship opportunities, shadowing programs, workshops, and much more to come.

Our Impact

In the past 4 years, GBTRS has been able to provide over 7,000 women and non-binary music industry professionals with career opportunities, internships, shadowing experiences, and more through the GBTRS Networking Group. In Fall 2019, we conducted a survey of 700 group members and found that a majority of survey respondents have found both paid and unpaid work directly through the group.

84% of survey respondents within the G.B.T.R.S. networking community have participated in paid work opportunities found through the group
52% of respondents in the G.B.T.R.S. networking community have participated in unpaid opportunities found through the group, including unpaid internships and volunteer work.
6 companies use the G.B.T.R.S. networking group to hire group members

GBTRS has been able to partner with musicians, producers, music festivals, and record labels to provide mentoring experiences. Here are just some of the people and organizations we’ve collaborated with:

Our Programs

One of our most popular recurring opportunities is our Roadie for a Day program, which allows women interested in the live music industry gain hands-on experience during tours with partnering bands. So far we’ve been able to provide dozens of women with the opportunity to work behind the scenes for bands including SWMRS and Doll Skin. Your donation can help us to provide more opportunities like Roadie for a Day to many more girls and women aspiring to a career in the music industry. Watch our recap of two separate tour dates with roadies Aliyah and Laura below:

As a Roadie for a Day, I was able to help with various tasks and learn different aspects of what goes into a live event and the day-to-day process of tour production. I greatly appreciated the opportunity to step into the music world, outside of the classroom, as a beginner to gain insight and talk to professions. The GBTRS team was incredibly kind and supportive and have given me an experience that has been incredibly valuable as I continue to pursue a career in the music industry.

GBTRS has been a really big part of my success in the music industry. I was able to make amazing connections and get help for booking shows, clients in need of press, and so much more. Every time I have a question, I am able to get advice and it helps me a lot. Truly am grateful for this group and recommend every girl even thinking about working in the music industry to join it!

I was having a hard time finding industry work prior to this and had even debated taking another career path, but the Roadie for a Day program re-inspired me. It gave me an incredible learning experience that I would have never had the opportunity to partake in if it wasn't for GBTRS. I cannot thank GBTRS and the Doll Skin crew enough for giving me such an amazing opportunity that has now helped me book other jobs.
